SRINAGAR (KIMS) — R R Swain, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer took over as the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday.
Swain, a 1991 batch officer took over as 17th Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir during a function held at PHQ Srinagar.
Upon his arrival, Swain was welcomed by senior officers and received a guard of honour in the PHQ lawns. He also inspected the guard of honour.
Swain held several significant positions within the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including SDPO Kothi Bagh, SP Ramban, SP Kargil, SP Poonch, SSP Kathua, SSP Jammu, SSP Srinagar, AIG (P/W) PHQ, and DIG Vigilance, before assuming the role of DGP for Jammu and Kashmir.
Swain assumed the post upon the retirement of Dilbag Singh, who was the longest serving DGP of Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh was posted as DGP of Jammu and Kashmir in September 2018 replacing Shesh Paul Vaid. Singh was given warm send-off, after serving 37 years service in the J&K Police. — (KIMS)
