‘J&K lost its identity and status on August 5, 2019’, says JKPCC on Amit Shah’s remarks

JAMMU — Jammu and Kashmir lost its identity as a special status Dogra state in the Country with a unique historical background and people will never forget that they lost their rights and powers as state subjects and downgraded into UT, on August 5, 2019, reacted JK Congress, commenting on the remarks of Home Minister Amit Shah during UP elections campaign.

The remarks of the Home Minister are an insult to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as the historical state with unique powers and rights for its citizens lost its identity as a state in an arbitrary and unilateral action by the Union Govt. on 5th August 2019. Certainly J&K was the crown of India because of its unique identity, history and secular values, but it was decimated, divided and downgraded into a UT (not better than a large Municipal body) on 5th August 2019 by Modi Govt, against the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Who demanded and desired the disbanding and downgrading of the historical Dogra state into UT, is not known yet except that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister wanted to downgrade it. It was a historical blunder to disband the Dogra state, downgrade it and strip the residents of their bonafide rights to land & jobs without their consent.

A law was made to strip people of their identity, rights and powers against the wishes of the residents by putting them hostage, rendering them voiceless and speechless and remedyless, in the largest democracy of the world. But the Home Minister claims that no one was killed or injured, in the violence, post decision, which followed rich culture, multiple languages and heritage but unprecedented restrictions and detentions.

The decision followed series of unilateral orders against the interests of local residents, especially youth of Jammu and Kashmir and still several such orders are passed on regular basis least bothering for the rights, interests and the hardships to be faced by the affected sections.

The promise of restoration of state on the floor of the house and the holding of elections and restoration of full democracy has no dead line but still it was called a crown, it commented, perhaps worst is yet to come. The paradise on earth has lost its glory as a world acknowledged tourist destination where people from entire globe would visit in lakhs, risking their lives in the wake of proxy war of Pakistan. The selective killings of innocents especially of minorities and the outside labour have continued, the migrants could not return, people feel insecure but still it enjoys the status of a crown, remarked JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma.

However the Jammu and Kashmir would continue to play its role as a unique abode of brotherhood and democracy against all challenges from outside and inside and would defeat the nefarious designs of the enemies of the country as well peace and harmony and would regain its lost identity and glory as a paradise on earth and continue to always serve as a Jewel in the crown of India, it added. — (KIMS)
