J&K Muslim leaders urge Home Minister to act against Yati Narsinghanand for derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Prominent Muslim leaders from Jammu and Kashmir have written to Home Minister Amit Shah, urging immediate legal action against Yati Narsinghanand for his inflammatory and derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

The letter expresses deep concern over these remarks, stating that they have hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims in India and abroad, causing severe emotional distress within the Muslim community and creating the potential for widespread unrest.

Signed by prominent religious figures, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq (Mirwaiz Kashmir), Mufti Nasir-Ul-Islam (Grand Mufti), Molana Rahmatullah Qasimi (Darul Uloom Raheemiyah), and Sheikh Sadiq Rajai (Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil), the letter emphasizes that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right in India, it cannot be used as a license to spread hate or inflict deep harm on an entire community.

The leaders called for appropriate legal action against Yati Narsinghanand, in accordance with Indian law and the Constitution, and urged the government to respect the sanctity of their faith.

They further stated, “Immediate and firm action in this matter will send a strong message that hate speech and incitement to violence have no place in a civilized society. It will also reassure the Muslim community that their faith and values are respected and protected under the law.”

The letter concludes with a hope that the government will address this sensitive issue with the seriousness it deserves and take necessary steps to restore peace and harmony among all communities. — (KIMS)
