SRINAGAR — Protection along with removal of encroachments from water bodies had been ordered by Supreme Court, NGT, JK High Court followed by so called State Water Management Act of 2010 & Sec 3 of which is being misused by Revenue bosses to harass innocents over one serious issue followed by State Water Policy issued by SRO 456 of October, 2017 not bothered but had any DC/ACR/Tehsildar removed any encroachment or demarcated water source/course as ordered in Section 5(2) of SRO 456, which if enquired shall detect a biggest ever scam of Govt losses & harassment to lac of innocents on the part of DCs of the time including ACRs/SDMs/Tehsildars etc etc.
However, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has praised the efforts by the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization as well as the administration for taking up the work of cleaning the water bodies in Srinagar starting from Khushal Sar.
While appreciating the efforts he said it is a big example of public participation & is a great example set by the people of Srinagar by cleaning the Khushal Sar.
The idea of cleaning the Khushal Sar was of a prominent businessman of Srinagar city Manzoor Ahmad and the cleaning process was started with the help of administration coupled with the efforts of the locals.
LG said, I thank him for whatever he has been doing & the work is being carried out and other water bodies are also being cleaned.
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo who is heading NLCO said that he was thankful to the Lt. Governor for mentioning their efforts of rejuvenating the waterways and traditional navigation routes.
However, DCs became active only to define the names of water bodies, when they received crores of rupees for its maintenance otherwise some of the DCs are still not aware of actual means of water bodies, so why are unable to reply LG/Advisor/Pr Secretary/Div Com office over the single word since months causing multi crore loss to Govt exchequer.
