LG orders reopening of 14 more tourist spots in J&K 10 months after Pahalgam attack

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday ordered the reopening of 14 tourist spots across Jammu and Kashmir, nearly 10 months after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that led to their closure for security reasons.

The LG administration had shut down nearly 50 tourist spots following the April 22 terror attack at Baisaran Valley, in which heavily armed terrorists shot dead 26 people, mostly tourists.

“After a thorough security review and discussion, I’ve ordered reopening of more tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures,” Sinha said in a post on X.

He said 11 tourist spots in Kashmir division, including Yousmarg, Doodhpathri (Budgam), Dandipora Park (Kokernag), Peer Ki Gali, Dubjan and Padpawan (Shopian), Astanpora, Tulip Garden (Srinagar), Thajwas Glacier, Hung Park (Ganderbal) and Wullar/Watlab (Baramulla) and three in Jammu division, including Devi Pindi (Reasi), Mahu Mangat (Ramban) and Mughal Maidan (Kishtwar) will be reopened immediately.

Sinha added that three tourist spots in Kashmir division, including Gurez, Athwatoo and Bangus and Ramkund in Ramban in Jammu division will be reopened after the clearance of snowfall.

The LG administration had earlier reopened 16 tourist spots in June last year and another 12 in September. — (KIMS)
