Srinagar (KIMS): Dr. Rizwan Rumi, Regional Head, Line of Control (LoC) Peace Mission has welcomed the discussion between (DGMO’s) Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan over the established mechanism of hotline contact and agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC and other sectors.
Both the countries reviewed the situation along the Line of Control and all other sectors in a free, frank and cordial atmosphere and agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and ceasefire along the Line of Control and all other sectors from 24/25 Feb, 2021.
In the interest of achieving mutually beneficial and sustainable peace along the borders, the two DGMO’s agreed to address each other’s core issues and concerns which have propensity to disturb peace and lead to violence.
Dr. Rizwan Rumi said, “The border between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory is the most complex and dangerous frontier of the World. The people living across the LoC are powerless and they are extremely vulnerable to physical and psychological injuries. The people living on and across LoC find themselves in trouble during minor skirmishes and mines are also increasing their miseries. Such actions forced people to displace and leave their ancestral land and their right of education and work is also compromised by either side”.
“It is a welcome move that both the countries have agreed to follow all the agreements of ceasefire and end violence across LoC which will help in bringing peaceful atmosphere in the region. With this agreement the people living along LoC can live life with dignity and without fear”, he added.
Dr. Rizwan Rumi Regional Head Line of Control (LoC) Peace Mission further said that roundtable talks is the only solution to end violence and bring peace in any region of the world and Government must encourage people and take such steps to solve any issue across the globe. (KIMS)
