JAMMU — A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl on the outskirts of Jammu on Saturday, police said.
The girl was safely recovered and provided necessary medical assistance as per legal protocol, a police spokesperson said.
The accused was identified as Arjun Lakhotra, a resident of Bishnah. A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against him and legal proceedings have been initiated as per law, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, police also recovered another minor girl who was kidnapped from Sirah-Kotla village of Kakryal in Reasi district.
The minor had been abducted around eight days ago by her neighbour Sahil Ali, who was arrested during the operation, the spokesperson said. — (PTI)
