Man ends life in Kulgam; Woman, teenage girl attempt suicide in Sopore

SRINAGAR — A 40-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after consuming poison in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a man (name withheld) son of Asadullah Bhat of YK Pora Kulgam died on spot after consuming poison at his home.

They said even after succumbing to poison, family members shifted him to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The reason for taking this extreme step by the man was not immediately known. Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Meanwhile, in North Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baramulla district, a woman and a teenage girl tried to end their lives by consuming poison at their homes.

Official sources said that a woman (name withheld) wife of Ramzan Bhat, a resident of Check Shutloo Rafiabad Sopore was shifted to GMC Baramulla after she attempted suicide. She is undergoing treatment at GMC Baramulla.

An 18-year-old girl (name withheld) daughter of Akbar Malla attempted suicide at Tarzoo Sopore. The girl is also undergoing treatment at GMC Baramulla.

Police have taken cognizance of both incidents and registered cases in this regard. — (KNT)
