Medical shop shut down in Ganderbal after picture of expired medicine goes viral

GANDERBAL [Hadi Hidayat] (KIMS) — In a swift response to a viral social media post, the Drug Control Department shut down a medical shop in the Peerpora Kachan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday.

Acting on a complaint, a team of drug control officers inspected the medical shop and found it non-compliant with regulations.

The shop was immediately closed in the interest of public health, and a notice was issued under Section 22D of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

The department’s prompt action has been widely appreciated as a step toward ensuring the sale of safe and genuine medicines in the region.
