MeT forecasts scattered to widespread rain, snow in Kashmir

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast scattered to widespread rain, snow in Kashmir valley and dry weather in Jammu region for next 24 hours.

The weather remained dry in the Union Territory yesterday.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, dry weather in Jammu division and scattered to fairly widespread rain/snow is likely to occur in the Valley during next 24 hours.

He said, Srinagar recorded 0.5 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 2.4 degrees Celsius and minus 8.3 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region he said, Jammu recorded 9.5 degrees Celsius, Katra 8.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 2.4 degrees Celsius, Banihal 1.8 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 1.1 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Drass recorded minus 7.7 degrees Celsius, Kargil minus 6.7 degrees Celsius and Leh minus 10.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Kashmir is currently under 20-day-long period of ‘Chilai Khurd’. It will be followed by 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
