SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Rampora area of Sopore town in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Saturday late evening.
According to reports, the encounter broke out after a joint team of security forces, including the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Rampora area of Sopore, following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter, one militant was killed and his identification and affiliation was yet to be ascertained.
It was the 2nd encounter in Sopore town of Baramulla district in two days. On Friday, two Pakistani militants were killed in an encounter in Sagipora area of Sopore. — (KIMS)
