Missing Baramulla girl found in Navi Mumbai, converted and married; FIR registered

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a concerning development, a missing girl from Kreeri in Baramulla district has been found in Navi Mumbai, where she has reportedly converted to Hinduism and married

On August 16, 2024, the Kreeri police station in Baramulla district filed a missing person report for the daughter of Gh Mohi-ud-din Sheik, who had been missing since that morning.

Following an investigation, it has been confirmed that the girl converted to Hinduism and married Sagar Pradeep Singh of Navi Mumbai on August 19, 2024.

In response, the Kreeri police station, under the authority of the Baramulla district police, has formally acknowledged the situation and registered a case under the relevant legal provisions.

Additionally, the Baramulla district police’s cyber patrol unit has noted that certain individuals are attempting to exploit the situation by disseminating misleading or inflammatory information. According to the police, “such actions are considered attempts to incite public disorder and may cause unnecessary tension.”

The police have issued a stern warning stating, “Sharing false or inflammatory content about this incident violates various laws and may result in stringent legal action, including criminal proceedings.”

The public is advised to “refrain from sharing any misleading or provocative content regarding this incident.” Individuals who have already shared or reposted such material are “strongly urged to delete it immediately to avoid potential legal repercussions.” — (KIMS)
