Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death anniversary: 10 PDP members booked

SRINAGAR — Ten PDP members including former minister of erstwhile state Abdul Rehman Veeri and senior party member Sartaj Mandi were booked on Saturday for ‘violating’ COVID rules as the party organised a rally in Bijbehara on Friday on the 6th death anniversary of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

“Regarding the subject it is to intimate that following persons/organizers of Peoples Democratic Party organized a large gathering on 07,01,2022 at the tomb of Ex CM Mufti Mohammad Syed at Padshah Bagh Zirpara Bijbehara in complete violation of SOP’s and COVID appropriate behavior which may result in spreading of COVID-19 and other related epidemic.” reads the letter.

The organizers are as per the letter are Abdul Rahman Bhat aka Veeri, son of Ghulam Qadir, A/p Housing Colony Khanabal, Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Saidullah Sheikh, A/p Housing Colony Khanabal, Najmun Saqib, son of  Gulzar Ahmad Shah, a resident of Idd Gah Bijbehara, Sartaj Madni, son of Ghulam Mustafa Nazim, A/p Housing Colony Khanabal, Majid Ahmad Khan Nabi Khan, a resident of Bijbehara, Abdul Majeed Rangraiz, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Bijbehara, Showkat Ahmad Teeli, son of Mohd Ismail, resident of Bijbehara, Mufti Sarwar, so of Mufti Sharif Ud din, resident of Bijbehara, Arshid Ahmad Ganie, son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Bijbehara and Nazir Ahmad Vaid, son of Ghulam Ahmad Vaid, a resident of Bijbehara.

“As such you are directed to book these persons under relevant section of law with an intimation to this office immediately,” the letter adds.

An FIR has been registered in police station Bijbehara and further investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said “Covid 19 restrictions apply only to PDP not to BJP.

“Covid 19 restrictions apply only to PDP. Not to BJP’s protest in Kashmir yesterday, PMs rally in Punjab or the mass poojas attended by hundreds of people to pray for his safety. Talks volumes about J&K admin’s brazen bias against my party,” Mehbooba said in a tweet.
