SRINAGAR, Farhan Kitab (KIMS) — Muzamil Mehmood, a young social reformer and community leader from Manchhama village in Beerwah, Budgam, has emerged as an inspiring figure for Kashmiri youth through his sustained work in social welfare, youth engagement, and national service.
Despite facing personal hardships early in life, including the loss of both parents, Muzamil has continued to shoulder family responsibilities while dedicating himself to community service with resilience and determination.
A graduate of Government Degree College Beerwah, Muzamil began his journey of social activism as a volunteer with the National Service Scheme (NSS) from 2014 to 2016, where he developed a strong commitment to public service and leadership.
Over the years, he has actively organized and participated in blood donation drives, medical camps, women empowerment programmes, and educational initiatives across Budgam district. His work has focused on promoting health awareness, education, and moral responsibility within the community.
Concerned over the rising drug abuse among youth, Muzamil has led several anti-drug awareness campaigns, cybercrime prevention rallies, and counselling programmes aimed at guiding young people towards constructive and disciplined lives.
He has also conducted Tiranga Rallies to promote national unity and patriotism among youth, while contributing to environmental conservation through cleanliness drives, tree plantation campaigns, and cannabis eradication programmes.
Under national initiatives such as Sewa Parv 2025 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, Muzamil led multiple welfare activities, earning a Certificate of Appreciation from the Director, Urban Local Bodies Kashmir.
His contributions have been recognized with more than 150 awards and certificates from government departments, NGOs, and social organizations for his work in youth empowerment and community development.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Muzamil remained actively involved in relief efforts, distributing masks, medicines, and essential supplies to needy families.
Through social service, education, sports activities, and awareness campaigns, Muzamil Mehmood continues to motivate Kashmiri youth with his message “Replace drugs with dreams.” — (KIMS)
