Notorious criminal arrested in Jammu; two kg ganja, pistol recovered

JAMMU (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday apprehended a suspect in possession of narcotics and an illegal firearm during a routine patrol at Ring Road in the Pounichak area.

The suspect, who was traveling from Ring Road towards Bhagatpur via the service lane, attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence. However, the alert team of ICBPP Sandwan, led by ASI Raj Singh, acted swiftly and apprehended him on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Bhuvan Prasad Kewat, son of Padun Lal Kewat, resident of Champa, Chhattisgarh. During a search of his bag, police recovered approximately 2 kilograms of ganja and a pistol.

Following the seizure, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Domana under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and the firearm, as well as to identify the network or individuals to whom the contraband was being supplied. More arrests are likely as the probe progresses. — (KIMS)
