KATHUA (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday have conducted a successful operation in destroying an “Opium” cultivation and seized approximately 126 kgs of opium plants (Poppy) cultivated at Thana Plassi area of PS Basohli in Kathua and one person arrested.
On 07-04-2025 Patrolling party of PS Basohli received a tip-off regarding the illegal cultivation of opium (Poppy) in the Thana Plassi area of PS Basohli, through a reliable source that one person namely Makhan Lal S/o Bishamber Dass R/o Thana Plassi Tehsil Basohli District Kathua who has illegally cultivated Opium (Poppy) plants having fruits in his agricultural land situated at backyard of his house for business/selling purposes.
On this information Police party of PS Basohli under the supervision of SHO & close supervision of SDPO along with EMIC Basohli reached on spot and sezied 1700 opium Poppy Plants weighing 126 Kg and arrest the accused namely Makhan Lal S/o Bishamber Dass R/o Thana Plassi Tehsil Basohli.
In this information a case FIR No. 32/2025 U/S 8/18 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Basohli and investigation taken up. “Opium cultivation” and its illegal trade are serious offenses, and the police department will take strict action against the offenders. — (KIMS)
