SRINAGAR — A non-local militant and a policeman was killed in a military operation at Pariwan village in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Wednesday.
Three military personnel and two civilians were also injured during the operation.
Earlier, on Wednesday evening, a joint team of Government forces including J&K Police, Indian Army and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Pariwan village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
In the operation, one Pakistani militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was killed and he has been identified as Babar Bhai.
The police personnel who was killed in the operation has been identified as SgCt Rohit Chhib.
Police said that Babar was active since 2018 in the areas of Shopian-Kulgam.
One AK rifle, one pistol and two grenades were recovered from the site of encounter, police added.
