Parimpora residents stage protest against shortage of water

SRINAGAR — Residents of Abanshah area of Parimpora in Srinagar outskirts on Wednesday protested against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) over shortage of water supply and blocked traffic on Srinagar-Bandipora highway.

Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that both men and women gathered at Abanshah, Parimpora and raised slogans against the PHE for failing to provide them drinking water in this Holy month of Ramadan.

The protesters said that they have been facing shortage of water supply, which is proving not less than an ordeal for them. They alleged that the PHE has been ignoring the water problem and making them suffer.

“Having a water supply is one of the basic facilities which one wants to have, but our area has been ignored by the PHE department and the problem has exacerbated in the middle of the Ramadan, leaving us to come across several difficulties,” said the protesters while raising slogans.

They also appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the issue and secure a water supply to the area forthwith.

Later, police also went to the spot and appeased the protesters, which helped in the resumption of traffic on Srinagar-Bandipora highway. — (KDC)
