Poisonous propaganda: Taliban says claims of girls being forcefully married to its fighters ‘baseless’

KABUL — The Taliban has called the claims of girls being forced to marry its fighters “baseless” and accused the Afghanistan government of running a “poisonous propaganda” against it.

In a series of tweets, Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen said, “All those claims that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan forces people to marry their young girls to Mujahideen are totally wrong. It is a poisonous propaganda.”

Suhail Shaheen also said that the Kabul administration has run baseless and vicious propaganda against Taliban and is making various “baseless” accusations.

“Recently the Kabul administration has launched baseless and vicious propaganda, sometimes claiming, the Islamic Emirate forces people to marry their daughters, or to marry them to the Mujahidin. Sometimes they say that the Mujahidin are killing people, killing prisoners and captives, and allegedly making various accusations. All are baseless,” Suhail Shaheen said.
