SRINAGAR — A prostitution racket was busted in a rented accommodation at Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar, police said on Monday.
Police said that two persons identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Shaban Bhat, a resident of Kadlabal Pampore and Mohd Shafi Hajam, son of Abdul Qayoom Hajam, a resident of Karimabad Pulwama were running the prostitution racket and have been arrested.
Besides them, four female sex workers (all locals of Srinagar) and two customers were also detained, police said.
According to news agency KDC, two other arrested men are residents of Mehjoor Nagar and Old Barzulla area of Srinagar while four female sex workers are residents of Lal Bazar, Nishat, Habbkadal and Gulshan Nagar areas of Srinagar.
An FIR Number 19/2023 under section 3, 4, 8, of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act has been registered in Police Station Chanpora and further investigation has been set into motion, they said.
