Rain, snow likely in Jammu and Kashmir for next 24 hours: MeT

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir for next 24 hours.

The weather remained inclement during the last 24 hours in the Union Territory as rain lashed plains while higher reaches received snowfall.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, light to moderate rain/snow is expected in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

He said, Srinagar recorded 7.0 degrees Celsius and Pahalgam 2.4 degrees Celsius while Gulmarg recorded minus 0.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region, he said, Jammu recorded 15.5 degrees Celsius, Katra 14.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 7.7 degrees Celsius, Banihal 6.3 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 6.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region, he said, both Kargil and Leh recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.
