Shah Re Khass Traders and Chambers stand firm against E-Challan System in Srinagar

SRINAGAR [Farhan Kitab] (KIMS) — The Shah Re Khass Traders and Chambers (SKT&C) have taken a resolute stance against the implementation of the e-challan system in Srinagar, particularly affecting the vibrant area of Shah Re Khass.

The ongoing lack of adequate parking facilities has forced customers to park near shops to make their purchases. Unfortunately, rather than fostering local commerce, the e-challan system has resulted in unwarranted penalties for these shoppers.

In light of this pressing issue, the SKT&C urgently calls upon the government and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to take immediate action.

“Without addressing the parking challenges, businesses in the area are facing challenges in conducting their operations smoothly,” said Raqib Altaf Shah, Chief Spokesperson for SKT&C.

“The general public is being inconvenienced by the current situation, which is detrimental to the local economy.”

The SKT&C emphasizes that the introduction of the e-challan system, without a corresponding improvement in parking infrastructure, undermines the very essence of supporting local businesses.

They warn that if a solution is not swiftly provided, they will be compelled to organize a peaceful protest to voice their concerns.

“The onus is on the authorities to work towards finding a resolution that benefits all stakeholders involved,” Raqib Altaf Shah added.

“It is crucial that the voices of the traders and chambers are heard and that necessary actions are taken to address this issue effectively.”

The SKT&C remains committed to advocating for the interests of local traders and ensuring that the economic vitality of Shah Re Khass is preserved. — (KIMS)
