Shopian Police conduct searches in UAPA case against Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists

SHOPIAN (KIMS) — Police on Monday conducted searches at two locations in Shopian in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) related to the banned organization Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir.

The searches were carried out at the residences of Mohd Amin Parrey, son of Gh Nabi Parrey, resident of Kundalan, Shopian, and Mohd Nadeem Malik, son of Gh Mohd Malik, resident of Balpora Ganowpora, Shopian. Both individuals are suspected activists of the banned outfit and are under investigation in FIR No. 09/2024, registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA at Police Station Shopian.

The search operations were conducted after obtaining search warrants from the Hon’ble Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Shopian. Following due legal procedure, the searches were conducted in the presence of local village representatives, including the Lumberdar and Chowkidar.

It is pertinent to mention that the ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the anti-national and separatist ecosystem in the Union Territory by identifying and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in such activities.

Shopian Police have assured that legal proceedings will continue as per the law, and any elements found to be supporting or harboring unlawful activities will be dealt with stern action. — (KIMS)
