JAMMU (KIMS) — In a significant action against drug trafficking under Operation Sanjeevani, the Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended two drug peddlers, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), in Jammu district on Friday and recovered Heroin-like substance from their possession.
“A team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by the SHO under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and overall guidance of SP Headquarters, intercepted a vehicle traveling from Samba to Akhnoor during a late-night operation near Balol Bridge, Ring Road, Miran Sahib. The suspects attempted to flee upon noticing the police but were swiftly apprehended,” police said in a statement.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Irfan Hussain, an SPO posted at DPL Poonch, son of Matloob Hussain from Galuta, Tehsil Mendhar, and Sajjad Hussain Shah, son of Sarfraz Hussain Shah from Potha Surankot, District Poonch.
“A search of their vehicle led to the recovery of 12 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta),” the statement said.
An FIR No. 11/2025 under sections 8/21/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib in this regard, and further investigation is underway. — (KIMS)
