JAMMU — Barely hours after announcing the extension of the Vande Bharat train service from Srinagar to Jammu from March 1, the Railway Board late Tuesday night put the decision on hold.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the notification regarding the extension had been deferred due to “unavoidable circumstances.”
“Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the notification programme of Vande Bharat’s extension from March 1 has been put on hold by the Railway Board till further advice,” Singhal said, adding that further information would be shared as and when received.
He also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
Earlier in the evening, Northern Railway had announced that the Vande Bharat train would be extended up to Jammu Tawi from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, enabling direct rail connectivity between the twin capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir from March 1.
“It is notified for the information of all concerned that Vande Bharat train will be extended up to Jammu Tawi from Katra from March 1,” Singhal had said earlier. — (PTI)
