SRINAGAR — Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state and (PDP) People’s Democratic Party President has reacted sharply to the arrest of a woman and her daughter for raising slogans in the aftermath of the Rangreth shootout.
The former Chief Minister said that the arresting of women in Kashmir marks a new low for the administration.
In a tweet, Mehbooba Mufti said, “Arresting women in Kashmir marks a new low for the administration that persecutes civilians only to please their masters in Delhi.”
“The situation is getting worse & instead of reaching out to the people, GOI is pushing them to the wall,” the tweet added.
Earlier, a mother and her daughter were arrested from their house in Srinagar for raising “anti-National” slogans.
It is pertinent to mention that two militants were killed in a shootout at Rangreth area of Srinagar on Monday. — (KIMS)
