Srinagar Police Attaches Property Worth ₹75 Lakhs Under NDPS Act in Major Crackdown on Drug Trafficking

SRINAGAR — In a significant move to intensify the fight against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property valued at approximately ₹75 lakhs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The property, comprising a single-storey residential house and adjoining land, is situated in Athwajan, Srinagar. It was in possession of two notorious drug peddler brothers—Irfan Ahmad Ganie and Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, sons of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie.

The duo is involved in FIR No. 05/2025 registered at Police Station Panthachowk and FIR No. 136/2024 at Police Station Safakadal under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.

Investigations have revealed that the seized property, registered in their father’s name, was acquired using proceeds from illicit drug trafficking.

Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the Srinagar Police formally attached the immovable property following due legal procedures. The property is now barred from being sold, transferred, or dealt with in any form without prior approval from the competent authority.

The accused have a history of drug peddling, especially targeting local youth, and pose a serious threat to public health and safety. This action is part of an intensified and ongoing crackdown by Jammu and Kashmir Police on narcotics syndicates, focusing on dismantling their financial and logistical infrastructure.

Srinagar Police reaffirms its commitment to eliminating drug abuse and trafficking from the society. Citizens are encouraged to extend their support and share any credible information related to drug-related activities.
