Three criminals/OGWs detained under Public Safety Act in Kathua: Police

KATHUA (KIMS) — Police in Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP, have apprehended three hardcore criminals/OGWs against whom multiple FIRs have been registered at Police Station Billawar. They have been booked under the Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA).

“On January 31, 2025, police teams from PS Billawar and PP Ramkot, led by the SHO PS Billawar and IC PP Ramkot, under the supervision of SDPO Billawar, apprehended three hardcore criminals/OGWs identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Kalu Khan, resident of Ghar Malti 2, Ravinder Kumar @Shanu, son of Sudesh Kumar, resident of Dadwara and Amrik Chand @Amrku, son of Kalu Ram, resident of Dharamkot, Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua,” police said in a statement.

“These individuals have been involved in various illegal activities over the past few years, with multiple cases registered against them at PS Billawar,” the statement said.

“To curb their activities, dossiers were prepared against them and submitted to the District Magistrate, Kathua, for their detention under the Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA),” the statement said.

“Accordingly, the District Magistrate, Kathua, issued detention warrants, which were executed today. The accused have been lodged in District Jails in Jammu, Rajouri, and Udhampur to prevent further unlawful activities,” the statement added.
