Three militants slain, four forces personnel injured in Pantha Chowk military operation

SRINAGAR — Three militants were slain in a nocturnal gunbattle that broke out between government forces and militants at Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar.

Four government forces personnel, among them three J&K Policemen and one CRPF personnel were injured in the operation.

Earlier a joint team of government forces including J&K Police and CRPF had launched a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Pantha Chowk area following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

During operation, three militants were slain and their identification is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar has said one of the killed militants has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Rather of militant outfit JeM. He was involved in Zewan attack.

IGP in a tweet said, “One of the killed militants has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Rather of militant outfit JeM. As revealed during yesterday’s PC, militant Suhail was also involved in Zewan Terror Attack. All militants involved in Zewan attack have been neutralised.”
