SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least four soldiers have lost lives and another suffered injuries after their vehicle plunged into gorge in SK Payeen area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir on Saturday.
The mishap occurred after vehicle skidded off the road due to inclement weather conditions and poor visibility.
Army said that the injured soldiers were promptly evacuated for medical care with assistance from Kashmiri locals.
“We express gratitude to the locals for providing immediate support to the injured soldiers and promptly evacuating them for medical care,” Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said in a statement.
Despite prompt medical care, three soldiers lost their lives. “Tragically four bravehearts lost their lives in the unfortunate accident,” the statement said.
The Army has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
