Two drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, Psychotropic substances recovered

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — While continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar on Saturday and recovered Psychotropic substances from their possession.

“A vehicle (Alto car) bearing Registration No. JK01AL-6614 was intercepted at a checkpoint established by a Police party of Police Station Nigeen at Foreshore Road near Public Park Habbak with two persons identified as Haris Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmed Dar of Ellahibagh, and Sameer Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Buchpora Srinagar on board. During search of the vehicle, 10 grams of charas like substance and 14 strips (140 Tablets) of banned drug was recovered,” police said in a statement adding, “Both the accused have been arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.176/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and further investigation has been initiated.

Police has also urged the common masses that if they witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near them, they are free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112.

Police has also requested general public to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.

“We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said. — (KIMS)
