Reports said a joint team of government forces including J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Soura area of Srinagar following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
In the encounter two militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed and they have been identified as Shakir Ahmed Waza & Afreen Aftab Malik, both residents of Trenz Shopian.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
According to police, both were ‘C’ categorised militants.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said, “10 militants including 3 from JeM & 7 from LeT militant outfits killed in 3 days in Kashmir valley”.
He said that “heinous murder case of late Ambreen Bhat solved in 24 hours”.
It is pertinent to mention that three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were killed in an encounter in Kreeri Baramulla on Wednesday. On Thursday, three militants of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed in Jumagund Kupwara. Four militants of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed in separate encounters at Aganhanzipora Awantipora and Soura Srinagar on Friday. — (KIMS)
