Two local militants slain in Kulgam military operation

SRINAGAR — Two local militants were slain in a gunbattle that broke out between government forces and militants at Okay village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Tuesday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including J&K Police, Indian Army’s 9 RR and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Okay village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

In the operation two militants affiliated with TRF (The Resistance Front) were slain and they have been identified as Sameer Ahmad Khan from Tiken Pulwama and Mohd Amir Wani from Alamgunj Shopian.

One AK 47 Rifle, One Pistol along with rounds and magazines were recovered from encounter site, police said.
