Two militants killed in 3-day long Kulgam encounter

KULGAM — Two militants affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit were killed in a three-day long encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Mishipora village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Tuesday.

Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Mishipora village in Kulgam district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter two militants affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit were killed among them one has been identified as Zubair Sofi of Mohan Pora Kulgam. The identification of another is yet to be ascertained.

According to police statement, Zubair was involved in killing of female teacher Mrs Rajni Bala in Gopalpora Kulgam on 31st May, 2022. — (KIMS)
