SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Sagipora area of Sopore town in Baramulla district of North Kashmir on Friday morning.
According to reports, the encounter broke out on Thursday evening after a joint team of security forces, including the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Sagipora area of Sopore, following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The encounter was halted for night due to darkness. The encounter resumed on Friday morning which led to the killing of two militants and their identification and affiliation is being ascertained.
“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter,” police said. — (KIMS)
