SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two militants were killed in two separate encounters in North Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.
An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Ketsun forest area of Bandipora district. The encounter broke out after a joint team of security forces, including the J&K Police and CRPF, launched a Cordon-and-Search Operation (CASO) in Ketsun, Bandipora, following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggered an encounter.
“One militant has been eliminated by the security forces in the operation,” Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
In a similar operation, an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Lolab area of Kupwara district. The encounter broke out after a joint team of security forces, including the J&K Police and CRPF, launched a Cordon-and-Search Operation (CASO) in Lolab, following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
“The Operation has successfully concluded, resulting in elimination of one militant and recovery of 01 AK Rifle, 02 Hand Grenades, 04 AK Magazines, ammunition and other war-like stores,” Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar corps said in a post on X. — (KIMS)
