Two militants slain in Kulgam military operation

SRINAGAR — Two local militants of Al-Badr militant outfit were slain in a military operation at Hassanpora village in Kulgam district on Monday.

Reports said, on Sunday evening a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) was launched by joint team of government forces including J&K Police, Indian Army’s 1 RR and CRPF following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

In the overnight operation two local militants were killed and they have been identified as Abdul Rashid Thoker, son of Mohammad Ashraf Thoker, from Hasanpora Tabela and Imad Muzffar Wani, son of Muzaffar Wani from Arigam Pulwama.

Abdul Rashid Thoker (20) was a local resident of Hasanpora Tabela and was active since December 5 last year while as Imad Muzffar Wani (21) had also joined militant ranks last year and went missing from last month also, police said.

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from encounter site.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said Imad Wani was A Categorized militant of Al-Badr and was involved in attack on police person Mushtaq Wagay in Pulwama on 19/12/2021.

IGP tweeted, “#Kulgam/#Anantnag #EncounterUpdate: One of killed #militant identified as Imad Wani, a categorised terrorist of Al-Badr. He was involved in attack on police personnel Mushtaq Waggay in #Pulwama on 19/12/21, in which he got seriously injured.”
