Weather in J&K to improve from October 18: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The weather in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory will improve from October 18, 2023 (Wednesday), the Meteorological Department (MeT) said on Monday.

The higher reaches of Kashmir valley including Mughal Road, Zojilla Pass, Sinthan Top received fresh snowfall while as the rain lashed plains, leading to the significant drop in the temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “Light to moderate rain and snowfall over higher reaches and at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir is expected till October 17.“

“The overall improvement in the weather is expected from October 18,” he said.

Meanwhile, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar and Anantnag each recorded 8.2°C, Qazigund 8.4°C, Kupwara 7.6°C, Gulmarg 2.2°C, Kokernag 7.2°C and Pahalgam 3.8°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Monday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 19.2°C, Katra 16.2°C, Batote 11.1°C, Bhaderwah and Banihal each 9.0°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 1.1°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
