10-Day long Handicrafts and Handloom exhibition inaugurated at Pahalgam

ANANTNAG (Raouf Dar) — The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom Department of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Tuesday inaugurated 10-Day long exhibition cum sale in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Mahmood Ahmad Shah, the Director of Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir at the famous tourist destination Pahalgam.

Shah also inspects various stalls installed by the local artisans of the Kashmir valley who want to showcase the Handicrafts and Handloom items during the exhibition.

The exhibition will showcase the finest art and crafts of Kashmir valley including Pashmina, Kani and other works.

The inaugural programme of the 10-Day long exhibition at Pahalgam was attended by the Joint Director Parvaiz Sajad, Assistant Director Tourism Bilal Ahmad, Assistant Director Anantnag Mohd Yasin Bhat, Assistant Registrar Induscos, Anantnag Fayaz Ahmad Khaki, ARI Kulgam and Anantnag.

The Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Shah on the occasion said that the exhibition will give artisans a suitable marketing platform to sell their beautiful products directly to the buyers and will give the tourists visiting Pahalgam an opportunity to get a glimpse of the rich art and craft of Kashmir.

He said, “These exhibitions will promote the art of Kashmir across globe and it will also attract tourists towards Kashmir and its art.”

“As the exhibition is going on in Pahalgam, we are going to conduct such exhibitions at other tourist places especially in Gulmarg and Sonamarg in future,” he said. — (KIMS)
