19 Rashtriya Rifles Dailgam organises cycle race for school children

ANANTNAG — Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles on Saturday organised a 10 kilometer cycle race for school children in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The cycle race was organised by 19 Rashtriya Rifles Fateh Company Dailgam in collaboration with Rashtriya Samajik Samarta with an aim to motivate the children to incorporate a healthy lifestyle and sports into their daily life.

A total of 70 enthusiastic and energetic students from adjacent areas participated in the race.

The 10 kilometer race was flagged off by Adil Teli, a young cyclist from GMC Anantnag and concluded at Shelipora Achabal.

The locals rendered a helping hand in controlling the busy traffic and encouraged the young students with their cheering.

All precautions regarding safety of participating kids, including medical emergencies and road safety were meticulously planned by Army.

The participants displayed excellent sportsmen spirit, zeal and enthusiasm. The first three finishers in each age category were awarded with trophy, certificate and cash prize.

The event witnessed huge public support and participation and was attended by prominent civil dignitaries including Mrs Firdosa Bano, BDC Achhabal and Miss Rubiya Syed, cricketer, J&K women’s Ranji Team.

The event aimed to channelize the energy of youth in positive dirn and reach out to the masses in general which will further generate goodwill for Indian Army. — (KIMS)
