ANANTNAG — Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles on Sunday organised a 7.5-km marathon “Run for Fun” Walk under Aseem Foundation and State Bank of India in Kokernag belt of South Kashmir’s Anantnag District.
Company Commander , 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Bisham flagged off the marathon Run for Fun Walk commenced from Hiller Bridge to Kokernag.
On this occasion Commanding Officer 19 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel Manpreet Singh was chief guest. Meanwhile DDC, Dysp, BDC, Muncipal councilor Kokernag also participated in the event.
Major Bisham Dev Thakur organised Run for fun walk for youths.In this event 265 youths took participate in the event among 12 years old single girl Makroo Areebah age 12 hails from arwani bijbihara Anantnag also participated in the event.
It was heartwarming to see the response of the youths who came out in large numbers to participate in the event and youths should have to participant for good health.
Organising of Such events provide platform among talented youths and keeps far away from drug addiction.Colonel Manpreet while adressing with participants.
This clearly indicates that how strongly our young generation is attached to the nation,” Colonel Commanding Officer said.
He said that Run for Fun Walk marathon was organised with an aim to inculcate a sense of responsibility, oneness, communal harmony and brotherhood among the people, especially youngsters and boost platform.
The event was organised with an aim to engage and channelise the youth in positive direction so that they focus towards creating a better future and conducive environment for peace and prosperity in the valley.
Major Bisham Dev Thakur urged upon the youth to follow the principles of unity in diversity, brotherhood and communal harmony.
The marathon Run for Fun walk concluded at the Sports Stadium Hangalgund kokernag.
Later on prizes were distributed among winners.
The first three winners including Mushtaq Ahmad Bimla Tariq Hussain and Aijaz Khatana were awarded with Cheques of amount Rs 4000, 3000, 2000 momento and trophy besides this Makroo Areebah was nominated for special awardee.
The event received wide support and appreciation from local populace.
People from all walks of life supported the participants throughout the route and expressed their gratitude for organising such an event which provided hope for the young generation to explore their hidden potential.
The general public also requested for more such opportunities for the young generation.
