SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A female Haj pilgrim from Kashmir valley died of cardiac arrest in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
The deceased pilgrim has been identified as Naseema Akhter, a resident of Uranhall village in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
She was the mother of four children including two daughters.
Locals while talking to Kashmir Independent Media Service – KIMS said, Naseema was very happy as she was performing the Haj for the first time along with her husband who was performing the pilgrimage for the second time.
Her last rites were performed in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and her body was also buried there, they said adding her absentia funeral (Salat al-Gha’ib) was also performed by the people at her native village.
Naseema’s sudden demise has saddened the entire village.
We are extremely shocked to know about her sudden death in Mecca as she joyously went for the pilgrimage along with her husband, locals said.
She was very happy after she came to know that she is going for Haj this year for time but who would have imagined it will be our last meeting with her, they said with teary eyes.
Meanwhile, Safina Beigh, Chairperson, J&K Haj Committee also offered condolences to the bereaved family of the pilgrim.
“My heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family of pilgrim, Naseema Akhter resident of Uranhall Anantnag who breathed her last in Makkah al-Mukarramah. May Almight Allah bestow her with jannat ul firdous. Rest in Peace!,” she said in a tweet. — (KIMS)
