SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparedness for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the J&K Police, BSF, CRPF, SSB and other security and law-enforcement agencies.
The DGP reviewed operational preparedness and directed officers to maintain heightened alertness, intensify intelligence-based operations and ensure prompt response to any security threat. He also stressed effective manpower deployment, area domination and close coordination among security agencies.
Reviewing security arrangements at major venues, particularly Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, Prabhat emphasised effective traffic regulation and parking management to minimise inconvenience to people attending the celebrations.
The officers also discussed deployment plans, intelligence inputs, traffic management and security arrangements. The DGP directed intensified night patrolling and naka checking, especially at vulnerable locations and along inter-district borders.
He further reviewed access control, anti-sabotage measures, frisking, route security and surveillance arrangements at venues across J&K, directing agencies to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures.
The meeting concluded with directions to ensure foolproof security, strengthened inter-agency coordination and the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir. — (KIMS)
