PULWAMA (KIMS) — The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday paid tribute to Shaheed Constable Mohd. Ashraf of the 20th Battalion on the 21st anniversary of his martyrdom, at his native village Naira in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
Shaheed Mohd. Ashraf was martyred during a fierce encounter with militants in Sevenderpara, Tripura, on October 18, 2003.
“During the operation, CRPF and State Police were conducting a search for militants based on a tip-off. As the troops were returning, they were ambushed by militants from a concealed position in the jungle. Shaheed CT Mohd. Ashraf fought valiantly, losing his life in the line of duty, but his courageous actions helped prevent further casualties among the troops,” the CRPF said in a statement.
A commemorative program was held today at Govt. Girls Model Higher Secondary School, Naira, Pulwama, to honor the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Constable Mohd. Ashraf.
Officers of the 182 BN, CRPF Pulwama, along with school staff and students, attended the tribute ceremony to pay their respects to the martyr for his brave and selfless service in protecting the nation. — (KIMS)
