Theft case solved within 24 hours in Kathua, golden jewelry recovered, accused held

KATHUA (KIMS) — Police on Wednesday solved a theft case by arresting one thief and recovered stolen golden ornaments (weighing approximately 60 grams) within 24 hours in Kathua.

On 07-04-2025 a case was registered at PS Bani on the complaint from Mohd Iqbal S/o Haider Ali R/o Dhaman Tehsil Bani District Kathua that some unknown persons had broken the lock of his house and stolen some golden ornaments as well as house hold items for which a case vide FIR No. 27/2025 U/S 331(4)/305/ BNS in connection with theft has been registered at Police Station Bani.

Acting swiftly on the same police party of Police Station Bani led by Inspector Surinder Raina under the supervision of DySP operations Bani today arrested one suspected thief who evaded his arrest.

During further course of investigation it was found that the said person is a habitual criminal who was involved in said criminal case of house trespass and theft.

During questioning the accused confessed his involvement and on his disclosure following stolen golden ornaments items as follows: One Necklace, One Locket, Two Foot Chain (Parri), Three Rings, One Ear Topaz, Two ear rings, Twelve pieces of necklace making a total of approximately 60 grams of golden ornaments were recovered from the possession.

The accused have been identified as Mohd Latief S/o Gul Mohd R/o Koti Chandiar Tehsil Bani District Kathua in above said case whereas further investigation of the case is going on and his involvement in any other case cannot be ruled out. — (KIMS)
