Pulwama Police recover 47 stolen sheep from Ganderbal

PULWAMA (KIMS) — Police on Thursday said they have recovered 47 stolen sheep in a major breakthrough in a livestock theft case registered under FIR No. 282/2025 U/S 331(4), 305 BNS at Police Station Pulwama.

Police said the sheep were stolen from Banderpora during the intervening night of November 17–18, 2025 and were traced to the Kulan Kangan area of Ganderbal.

During investigation, police arrested two accused — Ab Razak Bajad, son of Mohd Shafi of Kandiyal Akhnoor, and Mohd Jeelani Barghat, son of Mohd Zar of Dova Rajouri.

Police said three other accused — Mushtaq Ahmad Khari, son of Baugh Hussain of Thandi Choi Akhnoor; Nazakket Ahmad Bokda, son of Mohd Zubair of Akhnoor, presently residing at Wahab Sahib Khrew; and Mohd Jaleeni Barghat, son of Mohd Motwali of Sugli Gala Kalakot Rajouri — are still absconding. Efforts are on to trace and arrest them.

Police added that the recovered livestock is being transported back to Pulwama for legal formalities and restoration to the rightful owner.
