Protests erupt in Kashmir over killing of Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Protests were held across the Kashmir Valley on Sunday against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei in an airstrike carried out by Israel and the United States.

Reports said protest demonstrations were held in Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Bandipora and Baramulla, where protesters marched through the streets raising anti-Israel and anti-US slogans. Many were also reciting noha (elegies) during the demonstrations.

Iranian state media confirmed early Sunday that Khamenei was killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned the killing of Khamenei, stating that the development has shaken the Muslim world. — (KIMS)
