Wildlife awareness programme on wild boar prevention held at Government High School Sadiwara

ANANTNAG, Sheikh Nadeem (KIMS) — A wildlife awareness programme on wild boar prevention and human-wildlife conflict mitigation was organized at Government High School Sadiwara under the supervision of the Range Officer Bringi Valley Achabal and on the directions of the Wildlife Warden South.

The programme aimed to educate students, teachers, and local residents about the increasing movement of wild boars into human habitations, the damage caused to crops, and measures that can help reduce human-wildlife conflict.

During the programme, officials highlighted the ecological importance of wildlife and stressed the need to maintain a safe distance from wild animals.

Participants were informed about precautionary measures, including proper waste management, avoiding activities that attract wild animals near habitations, and promptly informing the Wildlife Department about wildlife sightings.

Students actively participated in the interactive session and were encouraged to spread awarenesson wildlife conservation and safety measures with their families and communities.

The programme concluded with a call for peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife while ensuring the safety of local residents and protection of biodiversity.

The initiative was appreciated by the school administration and local residents, who welcomed the department’s efforts to educate the younger generation about wildlife conservation and conflict prevention. — (KIMS)
