Drug peddler arrested in Anantnag; 104 grams of charas, ₹25.50 lakh cash recovered

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said they have arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 104 grams of charas-like substance along with ₹25.50 lakh in cash during a raid in the Tulkhan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to a police statement, acting on specific information that a notorious drug peddler had concealed narcotics in his under-construction house at Tulkhan, a police team conducted a raid at the location.

During the search operation, police recovered 104 grams of charas-like sticks and cash amounting to ₹25,50,000 from beneath boulders on the ground floor of the under-construction house.

The accused was identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, resident of Tulkhan.

Police said a case under FIR No. 154/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station and investigation was immediately taken up.

The accused has been arrested in connection with the case, the statement said.

Police described the recovery as a significant success in its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics networks in the district. — (KIMS)
