SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said they have attached a double-storeyed residential house worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Pampore area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.
According to a police statement, the property belongs to Manzoor Mir alias Mann Tiger, resident of Kadlabal Pampore, and was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Police said the property was identified as an illegally acquired asset during an enquiry conducted by Police Station Pampore under the supervision of senior officers.
The investigation revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the statement said.
Police further said that the accused is involved in multiple FIRs related to drug trafficking and narcotics offences, and the attached property was found to be a result of his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The action reflects the commitment of Awantipora Police towards dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers and curbing the menace of narcotics in the region, police said.
The statement added that the initiative has been appreciated by local residents, who described it as a significant step towards combating drug trafficking and protecting youth from the harmful effects of narcotic substances. — (KIMS)
